Women’s English Open

Event: Women’s English Open
Date: 31st October 2015
Venue: Chase Leisure Centre, Cannock

A really solid performance from the girls playing yesterday. In a group of fairly equal teams, we just missed out on making it out of groups stages.

Alcohol sweats and nausea aside, we went in to our first match against Birmingham 1sts with a strong start taking the first game off them. However, following some questionable ref decisions and a few silly outs from holding balls and lines, Birmingham picked up their game and went on to take the win.

We played Winchester 1sts in our second game. Although ability wise our two teams were equal, Winchester’s experience playing as a team gave them the advantage over our newly formed team which allowed them to take the win.

Regrouping and changing around positions we entered in to our third match against Nottingham Balls of Steel A pumped and ready. The whole team pulled off some fantastic catches holding out to make it a draw.

Taking that momentum we went in to our final game against Coventry Cobras. It started off as quite a slow game but soon sped up with the girls managing to keep their cool, making both hits and catches, as the opposing players became more and more riled up. Despite best efforts, the game ended as a draw.

After such a good day of dodgeball and a continuously improving performance by each of the players as the day went on its looking to be a really good season. Really well played girls, I’m so happy with everyone’s play. Bring on Unichamps next week!
